The 2002 WRX was the first turbocharged Subaru to be brought to the US market.  It featured the EJ205 2.0 liter engine and a small but snappy TD04 turbo.  This model kicked off all the Subaru platform development here in the US and to this day, still shares a lot of compatibility with even the latest model EJ engine based Subarus.
